“Boo birds” fly south into Jessicas concert.
Jessica Simpson’s debut country performance at the Country Thunder festival in Wisconsin this weekend may not have been everything she imagined. Jess was booed by the fans as soon as she took the stage, and throughout her set.
The singer, who performed after former American Idol knit-wit, Kelly Pickler, didn’t receive a very hearty welcome from the Wisconsin natives, the home state of her boyfriend, Tony Romo.
While very few of the fans thought she sounded okay, most were singing a different tune. Adam Matos, 21, told FOX News;
“I just don’t hear the country in her; I don’t hear the twang. She’s not good enough to be here.”
Jessica, responded to her warm welcome from the crowd by saying;
“I don’t know what your perception is of Jessica Simpson or what tabloid you buy, but I just want you to know that I’m just a girl from Texas; I’m just like you. I’m doing what I love and dating a boy.”
Apparently Simpson butchered some country classics by Willie Nelson, and Shania Twain, along with singing some originals off her upcoming album.
At least it can be expected that the boyfriend she speaks of, Tony Romo, doesn’t care if shes a successful country singer. If he wanted one of those, he would have stuck with Carrie Underwood.
