Elton John to Collaborate on Eminem’s New CD?

According to some rumors floating around he music industry, legendary rock star Elton John is set to make an appearance on the five years in the making Eminem CD, Relapse.

The pair first got together in 2001 at the Grammy Awards to perform Eminem’s then single, Stan, because the rapper was in the middle of a period where he was constantly bashed for being homophobic due to the lyrics to some of his songs. The photo above, is from a DJ created mix tape where the two artists songs are mashed together.

Eyebrows first began to raise last October, when Elton happened to arrive in Michigan at the same time Em was in the studio recording the album, though nobody ever came out and confirmed anything.

A source tells a Brittish newspaper, t, “No one realized the significance, though the Detroit Free Press did mention that Elton had been in town. Elton really gets his music. Anything they produce will be total dope: some of Em’s biggest records have been collaborations with mainstream pop stars – Dido on ‘Stan’, for example – and they really don’t come much bigger, or more mainstream, than the man with the red piano.”

This wouldn’t be Elton’s first hip hop collaboration on a CD either, in 2006 he appeared on a track on Timbaland’s disc.
