Star Trek Fails to Deliver.
Taking the top weekend box office spot isn’t exactly failing, but after a record setting 7 million dollar midnight showing on Thursday night, Star Trek disappointed in final sales.
After the big Thursday, the movie was expected to probably reach 100 million in it’s first weekend, as Iron Man did last year after a 5 million dollar Thursday night opening.
Star Trek will finish this weekend with 76.5 million, a bit less than 100.
The studio originally only estimated 50 million, so 76 isn’t bad either.
