That’s not a misogynistic title. If Beyonce can call herself “it,” we all get to use it. See? Did it again. And again.

Nick Jonas (he’s the one who writes the songs, so direct blame accordingly) has reportedly given ex-gf Miley Cyrus (she doesn’t write her own songs, but you can blame her for everything else) a “commitment ring.” Read on for this Jew’s interpretation of what all these silly Christian ring-things mean.

A “purity” ring is what you give your girlfriend when you want to jointly pledge virginity ’til marriage, or until you knock her up because your parents intentionally kept you ignorant of contraception. I’m not entirely sure what a “commitment ring” is.  (I’m more used to writing about the other kind of commitment.) It sounds like something worn to say: “Hey, I’m committed. To trying. No promises.”

    I beg to differ, ah. She didn’t write her only good song, “The Climb,” and there are several quotes from her reps on the net stating that she doesn’t pen her material. And she doesn’t play an instrument, so even if she hollers a couple diary couplets over a track, that ain’t writing.

    She does play an instrument. Watch her performance at StingRays in Tybee. She performs an original song with the acoustic guitar. I’m not looking to fight, but please, find something better to do than picking on a 16 year old girl. How do you know that she doesn’t write any songs? With many friends working for Hollywood Records, the company that signed her, I think I’d know. Have a good night.
