Rage Against the Machine Won’t Do What You Tell Them
You can call it the nature of the beast, but don’t expect to tell one of the biggest anti censorship free speech groups to censor their lyrics.
Rage Against the Machine is participating in some sort of contest on BBC radio where they are trying to outsell the X Factor’s winning track.
According to the interview, the race is neck and neck. The group talked about how this wasn’t an anti Sony thing they were doing, but it was against the fact that a few over paid song writers were hired to create this song for the winning artist, rather than the artist them self write their own music.
The band went on to perform their track “Killing in the Name Of” which ends with a pretty vulgar chorus which repeats “F*ck you I won’t do what ya tell me”. Even know the station told them not to sing the part of the song, Rage Against the Machine won’t do what ya tell them.
Singer Zach De La Rocha sang the part 4 times before being cut off by the station abruptly.
It’s almost sort of poetic.
