Corey Haim’s Family Asking Fans to Help Pay for Funeral
In an extra sad twist to the Corey Haim story, it turns out the troubled actor was broke at his time of passing, and his family is having trouble getting money together for a proper funeral.
Long time Haim pal Corey Feldman told Larry King this week that Haim was very broke, and that he filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 1997, listing debts for medical expenses and more than $200,000 in state and federal taxes. Feldman said at the time of death Haim was living in a month-to-month leased apartment in Los Angeles with his cancer-stricken mother.
Haim’s family reached out to his fans on his official website with the following message today;
“Due to the unexpected expenses of transporting his body to Canada for final resting, a fund has been set up to help his family.”
They listed an address to send money to, as well as Paypal instructions.

Haim died earlier this week at the age of 38 from what results are showing to be an enlarged heart.
