Larry King’s Gulf Telethon Raises $1.8 Million

The CNN telethon last night to benefit the gulf coast  from damages caused by the oil spill raised over $1.8 million dollars according to the final figures.

Ryan Seacrest, who teamed up with Larry King for the event tweeted this morning:  “Final numbers from @kingsthings 1.8 million raised last night for people & animals needing help now! This is going to those who cannot wait”

Not only did the spill put lots of wildlife in danger, but also created a massive cut in jobs for the local areas, with funds raised going to help those who have lost work.

Celebs who showed up for the event to lend a hand included  Nicole Richie, Kathy Griffin, Ian Somerhalder, Chelsea Handler, Sam Trammell and Ke$ha!
