James Franco Skips Post Oscar Bash, Returns to NYC

James Franco may have just hosted what will be considered the worst Academy Awards show ever depending on who you ask, so did all the negativity he was reading on his new Twitter account cause him to skip out on the after-party and ultimately skip town?  Or was it just that he needed to get back to school?

According to a source at the party held at LA’s Supperclub, Franco was absent from the entire bash, though his brother and grandmother, as well as other celebs including his ‘Pineapple Express’ co-star Seth Rogen, Kevin Spacey, and the stars from the CW’s 90210 were all in attendance.

Franco boarded a plane to NYC after the awards show, and posted a Tweet which read: “Goodbye L.A.,” which also featured a photo of the Best Actor nominee still in a tux, sipping appears to be a Bloody Mary. “It was fun! Time to head back to class.”

Franco is simultaneously taking classes at NYU and Yale this Spring.

Franco is looking for some redemption though, and it may come in a new documentary in the form of filming a live knife fight between two rival gangs on camera.

Franco is teaming up with Harmony Korine to go underground for the forthcoming film, which they are hoping can showcase a fight between rival LA as the films climax.

According to the New York Post’s Page Six: “They are looking to film two actual street gangs doing a fight scene. The twist is they want the two gangs to fight, using real knives. The production team is panicked that they’ll end up with blood, injuries and potentially dead bodies on set.”

Korine is known for controversial films, including ‘Kids’ and ‘Gummo.’
