Eddie Murphy To Appear On SNL?

Could Eddie Murphy be making a triumphant return to Saturday Night Live?

Maybe.

Murphy has been recently selected to host the 2012 Oscars, and has a new movie, “Tower Heist,” with Ben Stiller, set to be released on November 4th, but could his first appearance on the show that helped launch his career nearly 30 years ago be the next big news?

Murphy’s co-star, Ben Stiller, is set to host SNL this week as part of promotion for the movie, so it’s pretty likely that Murphy could join him if the rumors hold true.   But remember, there’s bad blood between Murphy and SNL.  There’s got to be considering he’s been off the show for 25 years and hasn’t shown up to any of the reunion specials.

Back in the early 90’s, when Murphy’s big success from the 80’s was starting to decline (pre-Nutty Professor) SNL’s David Spade appeared in a sketch with a photo of Murphy and upon dropping it said, “Look children, a falling star … Quick, make a wish!”

Many believe that this rubbed Murphy the wrong way, and he’s been keeping his distance from SNL ever since.

It would be great to see him back, though!   Do it, Eddie!
