Charlie Sheen Throws His Name In The Ring For ‘American Idol’s’ Judges Panel

With all the talk of who will be joining the ‘American Idol’ judges panel now that Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler have departed from the show, a surprise candidate has thrown their own name into the ring.

Charlie Sheen has expressed his own desire to join the panel, after producer Nigel Lythgoe recently mentioned the ‘Anger Management’ actor as a possible replacement.

Sheen told ‘Idol’ host Ryan Seacrest during a radio interview on Tuesday,  “It kind of came out of nowhere and I responded with a quote, just to sort of check the temperature of it or test the waters. Haven’t heard anything back. I guess it got some people curious…

“It seems so out of the blue that it almost made perfect sense. I thought this could be a lot of fun… Seriously, tell him (Lythgoe) I’m genuinely interested. It’s so different, it could be radical.”

After a rocky 2011, Sheen premiered ‘Anger Management’  to record 5.5 million viewers tuned into his first episode, a mark that made the show cable’s most watched sitcom premiere.  The follow up episode, part of a back-to-back, drew 5.7 million viewers.

Other names such as Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, will.i.am, and Adam Lambert have been mentioned as potential replacements, so how would you feel about Charlie Sheen on American Idol?

The format of the show and the quality of the contestants is far more important than the names of the judges.
