After a near record setting opening week, ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1′ held the top spot at the box office for the second week in a row, earning an additional $42 million dollars over the holiday weekend. Newcomer ‘The Muppets’ came in second in it’s opening weekend, with $29 million in ticket sales. Twilight’s domestic total to date has reached $271 million dollars. Puss in Boots took the Halloween weekend box office, bringing in $34 million dollars in it’s opening weekend. Coming in second was ‘Paranormal Activity 3,’ which brought in $18.5 during it’s second week after a huge $54 million dollar opening last weekend. Paranormal Activity 3 is THE Movie This Halloween

Almost all new releases flopped this weekend, but not ‘Paranormal Activity 3.’ The horror film grossed $54 million in its opening weekend, ending the reign of ‘Real Steel,’ which won it’s first two weekend rounds at the box office. We’ve heard mixed reviews about the film, but if you’re looking for a spook this Halloween, this might be the film for you. Did you see it?

Boxing robots scored a knockout at this weekend’s box office, with ‘Real Steel’ leading the pack of films bringing in $27. 3 million dollars. We have heard very mixed reviews of the film, but it would appear that the masses have given it a shot! Animals (and mammals)  are still ruling the box office! With ‘The Lion King 3D’ checking out of most theaters after a dominating two week run, ‘Dolphin Tale’ has emerged to this weekend’s top earning film. The film earned $14 million this weekend, and surpassed ‘The Lion King,’ as well as Brad Pitt’s ‘Moneyball,’ and Seth Rogen’s new film 50/50.

The Lion is still the king! For the second weekend in a row, Lion King 3D has taken the top box office spot,  beating out new film ‘Moneyball’ starring Brad Pitt. The Lion King 3D Roars To Top Weekend Finish

The Lion King returned to the big screen this weekend for the first time in 17 years, and in 3D!! King 3D dominated the box office in it’s return as well, bringing in $29.3 million dollars. The Disney Flick, which reunited us with the voice of Jonathan Taylor Thomas for probably the first time in nearly 17 years knocked off last weeks winner, Contagion, which earned $14.5 in it’s second weekend. Rounding out the top 5 were Drive, The Help, and Straw Dogs.

Contagion has captured the weekend box office! The Steven Soderbergh disaster flick has dethroned ‘The Help,’ which spent 3 weeks at the top of the box office and brought in $23 million during it’s opening weekend. Rounding out the top five were ‘Warrior,’ ‘The Debt,’ and ‘Columbiana.’

‘The Help’ Wins Weekend Box Office For Second Straight Week

$14.3 million was the earnings for the box office winner this weekend thanks to Hurricane Irene. ‘The Help’ took the top spot for the second weekend in a row. The film, based off of Kathyrn Stockett’s bestselling book of the same name is being called this summer’s “sleeper film” as it has been winning the box office after opening last month to smaller numbers behind  ‘The Rise of the Planet of the Apes. ‘ Have you seen ‘The Help’ yet?
