How Many Roads Must a Man Drive Down Before He Gets to the Outback Steakhouse in Burbank? Dylan Goes Even More Electric

Bob-Dylan-music

Do you have GPS navigation in your car? I don’t, but my friends who went to law school do, and one of the coolest things about it is that you can change the voice you hear from robot to lady robot to Australian or British lady robot. Soon you’ll also be able to select “Bob Dylan.”

The folk/rock God, as old as electricity itself, said on his BBC radio program this week that he’s in negotiation with two auto makers to be the voice of their navigation systems. What a great use of taxpayer bailout money. I used to swear up and down that I would never buy an American car, but hearing Bob Dylan say, “You have arrived” every time I pull into the parking lot of a new medical marijuana dispensary just might tempt to me to buy a Chevrolet if they’re still in business the next time I need a new car. (I drive a Toyota, so that should be in about twenty years.) To be fair, Bob never mentioned that he’s in negotiations with an American maker – I’m just hoping out loud that the Asians won’t own that precious piece of American culture. Please, take the Chrysler building and Madonna.
