American Idol remains a juggernaut, but the show that inspired it, the UK’s Pop Idol, isn’t even on the air anymore. Over there, they have The X Factor – a near-identical show created by Simon Cowell that allows groups to compete alongside solo singers. But we might get both! U-S-A! U-S-A!
Simon and his people are in negotiations to bring X Factor stateside while keeping American Idol on the air as well. The deal could net Simon 50 million a year for each show. Good God. The man stands to bank 100,000,000 dollars a year and he still smokes menthol cigarettes. And he drives a Rolls Royce. He’s like the British Master P.
