I’ve got myself a new girl crush!

Thank you, France!mc.jpgThank you, life!  Thank you, love!  It is true that there are some angels in this city!  With these enthusiastic words, 32 year old Marion Cotillard accepted her best actress Oscar Academy Award for her incredible performance in La Vie en Rose, during the 80th annual Oscar Academy Awards held Sunday evening.  Cotillard was up against Oscar veteran Julie Christie, who was among the favorites this year, and who had not won an Oscar in 42 years!Although Marion Cotillard was actually shocked to win the Oscar, delivering a spontaneously sweet and moving acceptance speech, her performance in La Vie en Rose has already won her Golden Globe and BAFTA awards, as well as the best actress win at the 33rd Annual Cesar Awards Ceremony.ep.jpgThose who have had the fortunate opportunity to watch the film in all its glory, would probably agree that Marion Cotillard’s amazing performance made her very much deserving of the Oscar, and all other awards she has received so far.  The girl rocked her role as Edith Piaf!  Cotillard was just incredible, both in recreating Edith Piaf as a stage performer and as a person, in various emotional life stages.  La Vie en Rose portrayed most of Edith Piaf’s life, beginning in her early, feisty teen years, all the way to her death in her late 40’s (in which she actually seemed much older, due to health conditions…).On Cotillard’s continued excitement backstage, MSNBC.com is reporting:

Backstage, her delight was even less restrained.  “It feels so good.  I’m totally overwhelmed with joy and sparkles and fireworks and everything which goes like bom-bom-bom,” Cotillard said.

From her humbly excited reaction, one would never guess Marion Cotillard has acting running, long and thick, in her blood.  Both mama and papa are actors, and Cotillard herself got an early start doing theater at the age of three.Yes guys, I’m totally girl-crushing on “the kid” Marrion right now…

And, for all you Edith Piaf fans…
