Blart Wins, But Clint Eastwood Proves He’s Still Clint Eastwood.

Paul Blart: Mall Cop took this weekends top box office spot, with today still being counted as part of the Holiday weekend, but a gap that may be too big to close.

Mall Cop, starring Kevin James ended up bringing in $33-million dollars for Friday-Sunday, beating the second place finisher by a whopping $11-million.

It wasn’t one of the new films picking up that number two spot though!  It was Clint Eastwood’s Gran Torino, in it’s second week at the box office, bringing in $22-million!

My Bloody Valentine proved that ‘3D‘ can sell a few  extra tickets, coming in third and bringing in $21.9- million dollars, while the one I had high hopes for, Notorious, came in fourth bringing in $21.5-million (and a whole lot of drama) of it’s own.

At least two screenings of Notorious, a film about the short life of rapper Notorious B.I.G. erupted in violence sending movie goers to the hospital.  At a Brooklyn after party for the film, four men were stabbed during an altercation, and at a screening in North Carolina, a man was reportedly shot twice in the lobby.

It’s a shame too because the movie really makes you realize violence is not the answer.
