GLAAD Mad At Correct Use of “Gay” to Describe Gay Stuff

Corteo-Cirque-Du-Soleil-1

GLAAD has to be a fake organization comprised of right-wing anti-gay zealots who are trying to paint gays as rigid, humorless, thought-Nazis, right? I’m starting to sincerely suspect that GLAAD’s press releases are written by Southern Baptist preachers in an effort to make the country collectively roll its eyes and say, “Get OVER it already! Sheesh, you people are annoying.” And regardless of who writes them, that’s certainly the effect.

GLAAD’s latest little hissy-fit stems from Vince McMahon, the WWE Chairman, using the word “gay” to describe the masks of Cirque du Soleil performers. If the Eyes Wide Shut-esque masks on these pogoing, prancing French Canadians can not be described as “gay,” every word in the dictionary must be re-examined. Then we can republish it in a handy volume titled Newspeak of GLAAD’s Aamericaa.

Here, skip to 8:41 and see for yourself if “gay” is an improper description:

Grant, you are a complete idiot. I often think that GLAAD is over-the-top in their overly-sensitive dissection of any gay/lesbian-related comments in the medea; HOWEVER, the use of “gay” in the above video is offensive. If you were able to think beyond your 2-inch pecker, you might see that generalizing those feminine, delicate masks as “gay” is completely ignorant and was clearly meant to be derogatory. It perpetuates the stereotype that gay men are sissies, queens, wimps, etc., which is completely untrue. You are a total misfit on this site because the other ‘writers’ are funny, well-informed and well-humored. Your writing indicates that you are dense, childish, closed-minded, judgmental and just a bad writer. I don’t know how much traffic this site gets but, in spite of the pollution you contribute to it, I like starzlife.com and I am never inspired to write such negative comments as I am when I read your b.s. I’m with GLAAD on this one.

McMahon even apologized to GLAAD upon realizing his error in judgment. Really man, “hissy-fit?” Be grateful you’ll never face the discrimination gays and lesbians do. You couldn’t handle it.
