You Sure You Warned Them, Paula?

Ex American Idol Producer Nigel Lythgoe is firing back at Paula Abdul’s claims that she warned them about Paula Goodspeed before they let her audition for the Fox singing show, claiming that the girl had issues and that she had heard of and from her before.

The ex boss says,

“You do not take somebody in that room that you believe is a danger to herself or a danger to Paula… [Goodspeed] had been through an audition process with the producers, an audition process with the executive producers, and we were wheeling her in as a huge fan of Paula Abdul. This is what we knew: She was a great fan, she was a lovely girl. And a great fan of Paula.”

Adding that he doesn’t recall Abdul’s request to have her not appear on the show.

“This is three years ago,” said the former producer. “I honestly say I can’t remember the conversation. If Paula said, that’s what she said, I believe her… I’m not angry with Paula. I think Paula’s in a position of: ‘It wasn’t my fault,’ and reaching out from that point of view. For her (Paula Goodspeed) family’s sake, it should really be dropped.”

Fair enough, but why didn’t he touch on the fact Abdul claims she’s only still with the show because she’s “under contract.”
