Is Britney Spears depressed?  We’ve got the EXCLUSIVE scoop for you.

We spotted Britney doing a little retail therapy with her mom in Burbank, California this afternoon, and she was looking miserable the entire time.

With an extra large Häagen-Dazs in tow, Britney shopped til she nearly dropped, buying up everything in site.  So could she have been stress shopping?

Britney was noticeably absent from all of this weekends Oscar festivities, including the after parties that were attended by the who’s who of the entertainment biz.  Surely she would have made an appearance somewhere if all was good, right?

We’d like to think that with all the success and the big comeback of 2009, Britney would have something to smile about, but all is not well in the land of Spears.

We spoke to a soruce inside the mall today, who claims that Britney didn’t even seem interested in the shopping trip.  “She was buying up everything she could get her hands on, and barely talking to her mother.”

Hopefully she just had a bad day, and hopefully these EXCLUSIVE photos of her boyfriend Jason Trawick walking alone last week have nothing to do with her mood today.

    way to make a story. just picking the bad pics. there were heaps of pics that showed her cute smile. besides britney hasn’t been to the oscars before! she’s a singer… the last movie she played in was in 2002. why would she attended?!
