President Obama Asks For DTV Switch to be Delayed.

For the past three or so years we’ve been getting barraged with ads and commercials letting us know that in February 2009 all television is going digital, and if you aren’t digital, or purchace a converter box which you can get a $40 government cupon for, well then no television for you.

Now that February 17th is right around the corner, President-elect  Barack Obama is asking congress to push that date back.

In a letter to congress, a member of Obama’s transition team cites the fact that the government has ran out of $40 dollar converter cupons, and people wont be able to get them in time.

Maybe the government should have thought of that before they offered two per household of the alotted 1.5 billion dollars made available.

The Obama camp is also claiming that people haven’t had enough time or been made aware of what they need to do, and that people who live in low income areas may not have had the same opporotunities as the rest.  Though by the numbers, they’ve done plenty as only 6% of people with televisions in the country would be effected by this switch if it happened today.

Good argument or not?  Should they push back the date, or do people just need to hurry up and get with the times.
