Potential franchise ruiner Kiera Knightley has turned down the option to reprise her role as Elizabeth Swann in Pirates of the Caribbean 4, which Disney currently has as a work in progress.
Johnny Depp is signed back on as Captain Jack Sparrow, and you would have thought the rest of the cast would join on to follow, but not Knightley.
The actress tells Moviefone.com, “It was a completely fantastic experience, and it was an amazingly large portion of my life, but I don’t think I need to go there again. I think that it’s done. But I’m very excited to see the next one. And he (Depp) is so wonderful in that character. I think it’ll be wonderful.”
So do they re-cast, or write her out? Re-casting could ruin the entire greatness of the film, but she’s such an important character to just write off.
