Guitarist and rock ‘n’ roll icon Les Paul AKA “Red Hot Red” died this morning. He was 94.
Paul was a pioneer in the development of the original electric guitar as we know it today. His creation changed the course of history, especially the rock world. The Les Paul guitar ranks as the definitive guitar, strummed by everyone from Paul McCartney to Madonna.
Paul died of complications from pneumonia in New York with family and friends by his side.
