Nigel Lythgoe, executive producer on American Idol is making some major claims!
Lythgoe is speaking out to promote the message that American Idol is better off without Simon Cowell at the judges table.
Cowell quit this year to bring his X-Factor to the US, and Nigel thinks that with him gone, there are going to be more “American” voices getting through to the further rounds.
He tells Us Magazine; “The energy in the audition rooms is totally different,” Lythgoe told Us. “You aren’t tired at the end of the day, even though we are seeing twice as many kids as we did in the past. We are enjoying it; we are laughing.”
Lythgoe also told the source that there’s going to be more country, more jazz, in this coming season. Two things Cowell was not a fan of and likely to not send on to Hollywood from the audition rounds.
Well at least there’s one person who has faith in Idol, unfortunately we think it’s the only one!
