BREAKING NEWS! Carmelo Anthony Traded to the New York Knicks

Breaking news from the NBA!   Carmelo Anthony is now a member of the New York Knicks, according to reports.

Last night in Los Angeles, Anthony donned the red #15 jersey for the Western Conference All Stars, but tonight he’s packing up and heading east.

In what looks like an end to the five month long “Melo-drama,” The Knicks will send Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, Timofey Mozgov, Anthony Randolph, Eddy Curry’s expiring contract, their own first round pick in 2014, Golden State’s second round picks in 2012 and 2013, and $3 million in cash to the Denver Nuggets.   Anthony Randolph and Eddy Curry will end up in Minnesota playing for the Timberwolves.

In return, the Knicks will get Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter and Renaldo Balkman.

With Melo joining Amare Stoudemire in New York, the Knicks are just one piece away from creating their own “big three” to compete along side the Miami Heat’s Lebron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh, in addition to the aging big three of the Boston Celtics, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen.

It could be expected that Anthony be in uniform by Friday’s game at the struggling Cleveland Cavaliers after passing the physical, just in time for the big Oscar Sunday match up at Miami vs. the Heat.

Carmelo will be appearing on Conan tonight on TBS, but is not expected to be breaking any news on the broadcast, as it was filmed earlier in the afternoon on Monday.  You know Conan O’brien will be asking him, though.
