Pete Wentz has finally spoke out about his relationship with Ashlee Simpson, the mother of his son.
The couple recently announced a divorce, and it was then reported Wentz was “shocked” to find out that Simpson was dating one of his pals, who is also signed on to his record label, a claim which sources close to Simpson still deny.
Coincidentally, Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson were spotted together not once but twice this weekend, hitting up two LA fast food joints for lunch.
So what’s the deal with these two? Wentz called into Ryan Seacrest’s radio program this morning to talk about his new band, The Black Keys, when Seacrest turned the subject to Simpson and the pending divorce.
Wentz explained, “It’s like Ashlee’s been my best friend for five years. She’s the mother of my child. I have nothing but love and respect for her. Going through something like this isn’t easy, but we’re friends, and the most important thing is to put our son first.”
That’s a great attitude for the two of them to have. There’s no reason to not get along when you are both the parents of an adorable little boy.
Hopefully the relationship stays this way, and the divorce doesn’t get nasty.
