Taylor Swift received the highest honor at last night’s ACMA awards, winning Entertainer of the Year, and becoming the youngest ever to do so.
Those who have won the award in the past include Tim McGraw, George Straight, and Keith Urban, all of which who have taken Taylor out on the road with them as their opening act earlier in her career, as well as Garth Brooks, and Shania Twain.
Of the honor Taylor told reporters backstage, “To be even mentioned in the same breath as them, I feel shock and overwhelming gratitude.”
According to the source, over 600,000 fan votes factored in to Taylor Swift winning the award at Sunday night’s award show.
Taylor is just age 21.
She got this award because she has a huge fanbase of younger children and teens, not because the academy picked her like the rest of the artist. She does not sing country music. I saw her in concert and she is definitely catering to young teens not adults or maybe adults whose children love her. It just doesn’t seem hardly fair IMO. I don’t hold this award in high asteem anymore because it’s all about whose fanbase can text the most.
