Celebrities including Lindsay Lohan, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Heidi Klum were on hand at a charity event in NYC this week to help raise money for the Elizabeth Taylor American Foundation for AIDS Research. The event, which was hosted by Parker and held at Manhattan’s Cipriana Wall Street  included an auction in which a portrait of Richard Gere, taken by late photographer Robert Mapplethorpe was sold to the high bid of $20,000. Hollywood411 has confirmed that a funeral service for Elizabeth Taylor is being held today at Forest Lawn Cemetary in Glendale, California at 2PM. Taylor died yesterday at age 79  of congestive heart failure. Instead of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to Elizabeth Taylor’s aids foundation.

Oscar winning actress Elizabeth Taylor passed away at the age of 79 early Wednesday morning from congestive heart failure. Taylor has been battling health issues for many years now, and just last month was admitted to Cedars Sinai hospital for symptoms caused by congestive heart failure. Elizabeth Taylor is going to be given a special honor this coming January at the Woman’s Image Network awards in Santa Monica. Taylor will be recognized for her “artistic genius and her HIV/AIDS activism,”  WIN Founder Phyllis Stuart explains. The Hollywood Reporter is claiming that the 78-year-old actress will be in attendance at the event in January as long as her health allows.
