Stewie from Family Guy is Gay

I don’t hate Family Guy. Plenty of people in comedy do (I’m an actual comic when not crafting these delightful lil’ posts) and I always defend the show by first acknowledging that every criticism of the show is valid. It does have too many pop-culture references in lieu of jokes, and the “cut to” format is an easy way to cram an episode with random, inorganic gags. But the show’s still funny. You only need to like 1 out of every 12 attempts at humor per half-hour and you still walk away with a pretty satisfying comedy-watching experience. It’s a maximalist gag-fest and you barely need to care about the stories. Sometimes I watch an episode to the commercial break and change the channel satisfied. Now I’m editorializing, and we’re not supposed to do that on this site. Just kidding.

Anyway, Stewie, the Jimmy Corrigan rip-off character from that show, is gay, according to creator Seth MacFarlane. He outed the character in a roundabout, Dumbledore kinda way. We won’t see the 1-year-old having gay sex or anything along those lines. All we have to go on is this quote:

“Ultimately, Stewie will be gay or a very unhappy repressed heterosexual. It also explains why he’s so hellbent on killing [his mother, Lois] and taking over the world: He has a lot of aggression, which comes from confusion and uncertainty about his orientation.”

What the deuce?! This is crazier than that time Bronson Pinchot tried to glue himself to a Jet Blue flight bound for Jamaica! OK, fine, sometimes the show is really annoying.
