Last night “RIP Cher” began trending on the social networking site.   It starts with a few people who want to get the rumor going, but spreads like wild fire when people respond with it even if just to question it. Legendary singer Etta James has died at age 73 at a hospital in Riverside, California. James spent the past few years blighted by illness – she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2009 and hospitalized in early 2010 after contracting an infection caused by the MRSA bug. Her cancer diagnosis came  at the beginning of 2011 and in December after her health further deteriorated and she was forced to spend her last Christmas under the care of doctors in a Riverside hospital after suffering...

Just in time to make it a “not so happy holiday,” the Osbourne family dog passed away. Kelly Osbourne updated her Twitter.com page with the news of the passing of the 14 year old pup, writing; “Today is a sad day in the Osbourne family house hold (sic) we lost R (our) dog martin of 14 years. Comedian Patrice O’neal has passed away at age 41. O’neal’s health was often the butt of many jokes on the Comedy Central roasts, but the comedian was well respected among the comedy world for his contributions and hilarious performances. O’neal suffered a stroke in October, just one month after appearing on the Roast of Charlie Sheen. RIP Patrice

Rapper Heavy D passed away this afternoon at age 44. The influential 90′s rapper /actor was found lying conscious on the walk way in front of his Beverly Hills home this afternoon, and passed away an hour later at a near by hospital. The cause of death has not yet been determined, though foul play is not suspected. Real name Dwight Myers,  Heavy D most recently appeared in Towet Heist, in theaters now. RIP Mr. Big Stuff!

Boxing great Smokin’ Joe Frazier passed away on Monday, losing his final fight to liver cancer. Frazier, the man who handed Muhammad Ali his first defeat was 67 years old. His boxing record from from 1965 to 1981 included 32 wins with 27 knockouts, 4 knockouts, and a draw. RIP Joe.

RIP Andy Whitfield

Actor Andy Whitfield has passed away at age 39 after losing his battle with cancer. The ‘Sparticus: Blood and Sand’ actor died at his Australia home on Sunday night after succumbing to non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, according to his manager. Whitfield was preparing to shoot a second series when he was diagnosed in 2010, before being replaced by Liam McIntyre. RIP Andy.
