Mickey Rourke’s Strange On Set Strategy: Deceased Pets

We’ve heard of some pretty strange on set behavior before, but nothing like this!

Mickey Rourke has his own unique way of getting emotional during scenes in movies, by having photos of his deceased pets up in the background.

Mickey’s Iron Man 2 co-star, Robert Downey Jr. reveals during a promo interview; “He would have someone holding pictures of recently deceased pets off camera to make him feel sad or whatever for a scene. It was all serious stuff. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Whatever works, Mick.

It shows he has high regard for animals, and a tender side that is underneath the reactionary facade. I’m sure he has human tragedy in his background, but he doesn’t feel it’s respectable to use the memory of loved ones to improve his performance. Would you rather he faked it?
