More and more details are spilling out about the 2005 deal for the Speedfit system that has landed Jessica Simpson a $10-million-dollar lawsuit by brand owner Alex Astilean.
In a new interview, Astilean reveals that the original offer was $1 million dollars for Jessica Simpson and (then husband) Nick Lachey to appear on the video for the new treadmill system together, which would presumably mean that they would each earn $500,000 for the deal.
Apparently Jessica’s father Joe re-negotiated the deal so that just Jessica would appear in the video, and collect all of the $1-million dollars. Joe Simpson wasn’t Nick Lachey’s agent when the two were married, and according to Astilean, he doesn’t even know if Lachey was ever even informed that he was originally wanted for the video as well. He says;
“We knew that Joe Simpson gets the percentage just from Jessica’s work . . .We felt sorry for what we did by accepting the final offer, but we were in such a rush to come out with the video,” Astilean admits. “For Joe to screw his own son in law for half a million dollars was still not enough, nor was the money from Jessica’s side, because he wanted another Ferrari and was trying to get Jessica’s trainer into the picture and force me to teach him the SpeedFit Routine.”
Turns out that Joe Simpson was the agent of Jessica Simpson’s trainer, Mike Alexander as well.
Thats where the phone conversation between Simpson’s business manager, David Levin, and Alex Astilean that can be heard in this video took place, with Levin promising that if they did not allow Simpson trainer Mike Alexander in the video, Joe would shove the contract so far up his rectum, and that Jessica would film it, but then not give final approval on it’s release just to fulfil her contractual obligations.
Its not news, but Joe $impson is she shadyest fellow out there it seems!
No wonder Nick Lachey ran for his life!! Hopefully Pete Wentz doesn’t get caught up in the grand $cheme of things.
