People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is responding to a claim that Michael Jackson is planning to include some spectacular wildlife for the Jungle themed portion of his sold out residency at the O2 arena.

Apparently the rumor is that Jackson planned to have an Elephant leading panthers  to the stage while parrots flew out from behind them.

PETA issued a statement to NME, saying;

“Michael Jackson gave away his chimpanzee, and left giraffes, elephants and other animals in appalling, cramped conditions when he vacated the Neverland Ranch. These exotic animals belong in Africa, not the O2 Arena among screaming fans, bright lights and stage explosions.

“These wild animals are deprived of everything that is natural and important to them when they are forced to perform under stressful conditions. Michael needs to learn to leave exotic animals alone.”

Sounds like it would be a pretty extravigant jungle sequence, and hard to execute, but I would not put it past Michael Jackson!  It’s either that or PETA is just looking for some free press as usual.
