Movie director Woody Allen has settled a lawsuit against LA based clothing company American Apparel for the large sum of $5 million dollars.

The company used a still of Allen dressed as a Jewish man from one of his movies for billboards in LA and New York without the permission of the actor/director, and he immediately slapped them with a $10 million dollar suit and had the ads taken down in less than a week.

The sides finally came to an agreement in court this week, settling for half of the original suit.

Allen’s argument was that he had not done any type of advertising since the 1960’s when he was a struggling comic, and that this ad was only to tarnish his image.  American Apparel said they were just exercizing their free speech rights, but were advised by their legal team to settle for 5.
