LOL @ the Comments Section Regarding Reggie Bush’s Essence Cover

reggie-bush-essence-cover

Daaaamn, girl, sistas is MAD HEATED at the editors of Essense for putting Reggie Bush on the cover of their “Black Men, Love & Relationships” issue. You see, Reggie Bush isn’t dating a black girl. He’s dating Kim Kardashian, who, for some reason, Essence readers think is white.

Kim Kardashian is not white. She’s middle eastern, and clearly a woman “of color.” She’s not black, but she’s not Amy Adams. Are these girls blind, or do they think KK got her skin shade from sleeping outside during the day?

Listen to these shrieking banshees:

Why is there a white supremacist on the cover of Essence magazine? Because any person who thinks white women are better is indeed a white supremacists. Having this man on the cover is beyond offensive to me as an African American woman. He is just another crude reminder of all the black men who perpetuate racism against black women, by rejecting them and showing the utmost disrespect by choosing to date non-black women, Reggie Bush is even more offensive since his mate is nothing but some white trashy woman. I suspect those of you you do agree with this mess are either Aunt Jemima’s or products of an interracial relationship.

I totally agree with the 1st comment…how dare you ESSENCE……here we go again with Black folks trying to “blend in” instead of accepting their own identity….The cover should of been named,Ten Sexy Black Men that dont like black women….And the next time Essence decided to do this cover we should boycott and cancel subscription…in other words the media does what they want to black folks is because “NO ONE” SAYS ANYTHING TO THEM….

Is this a deliberate insult to black women? It seems like it. Surely they knew that Reggie wouldn’t give a black woman the right time of day. What in the world makes Essense think we want to drool over this sell out. You might as well put Lamar Odom on the cover. I have 6 more months of this subscription. I was debating whether to renew, now I know I’m definitely cancelling. What an insult!

No wonder white people hate the blacks. Look at the shit these sisters spew out of their mouths. But if we ever gave a white man a hard time for dating a beautiful black woman we would be racists and it would be a crime.

These whores need to stop being so bitter.

shut the fuck up who cares if hes dating someone who isnt black. its not his fault hes not in love with a black woman..get over it not all black men like black women..you cant have them all and he certainly doesnt want you lot 🙂

Wow. How ignorant are the comments. It is not only about Reggie being with a non-black woman. This magazine is a magazine for BLACK women. It is odd that for the February “black love” issue of this BLACK WOMENS magazine they feature a black man that is in a high profile relationship with a non-black women.

No one is pissed that Reggie dates white women. Black women subscribed to Essence because it has(had) a history of encouraging, educating, and informing us of what is going on in the black community. The articles and front covers of the past gave us a reason to be proud and supportive of successful black people. Its always nice to see positive black images on the cover of a magazine that are marketed to black women. This is not a positive image given Kim’s notorious reputation. Questionable black man with a questionable “white” women. Plus the man is not even worth his salt right now. Has anyone been following his game. He has no game right now. He is a complete waste of money. Now he is on the cover of Essence? A magazine black women subscribe to and read? Why would we be interested in him? Why should we be? Now, what is it that we need to know about him and Kim that we do not already know. And where did that picture come from. Those rhetorical questions for Essence. I think Essence lost its Essence.

Bravo MizzBee!! You said it all. What makes Essence think Reggie Bush is so relevant that he garners their cover? And what is it about his love life, with the ill reputed Kim Kardashian, speaks to us as a positive example of black love?! For a magazine that was once so connected to the pulse of black women, Essence has clearly became out-of-touch.

I was very surprised to see Essence put this man on the cover of a magazine tailored to black women. Its like a slap in the face. Maybe if this socieity did not promote European beauty as the ideal form of beauty, it would be different, maybe if 70% of black women were not single and forced to look outside their race for a man (even though in their heart many want a man of their race), that would not be a problem, maybe if our little girls were not given subliminal messages that they are ugly, that would not be a problem, maybe if we were not saturated with white images of beauty, even on BET, that would not be a problem. Maybe if there was not a noticeable amount of black men dating outside their race, that would not be a problem. There is far too many social factors at play here other than the simple “black women are insecure and racist.” If the shoe was on the other foot, where black women outnumbered white women were dating/marrying white men and white women had problems finding a white man, the sentiments would be the same among many white women.

I have some questions for the ladies who are complaining:

    1) Did you all ever think for once that Essence wouldn’t put a cover up there with Reggie Bush w/ Kim when they had the nerve to place Diddy and his estranged gf who had his twins on the cover, talking about REAL LOVE?

    2) Are you on the same level as Reggie Bush when it comes to status?

    3) Are you on the same level as Kim when it comes to looks?

No matter what you all think or feel about Essence, they have magazines to sell! For every person that cancels them, 5 more pick them up.

There are only so many woman “issues” a magazine can cope with until they are redundant in material. Sales were probably low….so they beefed it up with some eye candy. What better way to sell a magazine than with eye candy?

For all those who are belly-aching, DO YOU SERIOUSLY THINK YOU WOULD HAVE A CHANCE WITH REGGIE WHEN HE IS DEALING WITH KIM? HIS LEVEL WILL REMAIN THE SAME. WHY WOULD HE DROP DOWN IN THE LOOKS DEPARTMENT?

I AM NOT HERE TO ATTACK YOU LADIES. BUT THIS IS SOMETHING YOU SHOULD KNOW:

EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT…..JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN, IT DOESN’T GIVE YOU DEFAULT AND EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS TO AFRICAN AMERICAN MEN, ESPECIALLY WHEN WE KNOW WE ARE A HOT COMMODITY ALL AROUND THE WORLD! THE STIGMA OF SLAVERY HAS GIVEN US A TWISTED ADVANTAGE! WE WERE STUDS TO BREED DURING SLAVERY…..NOW WE ARE SIMPLY STUDS TO ALL WOMEN!

If you think you don’t have to compete, then cheating wouldn’t exist! Learn something from this. Get off of your pedestals you have conveniently placed yourselves and realize to be the QUEENS you claim to be, a KING must be present in your lives BESIDES GOD AND JESUS!

Lastly, the reasons why you see more of us going elsewhere to get women is right here:

    1) Your attitudes about what you think belongs to you. Whatever you claim is yours is not yours until it is yours!

    2) The attitudes of other women in other countries and the way they were raised.

    3) Your mindsets on what you think you deserve because of everything you have done in your life.

    4) To all of my successful women: ever thought that a successful man doesn’t want his reflection, but his complement…meaning where his insecurities and inconsistencies linger you fill in those gaps?

    4) Ever thought that women from other races are merely looking to fill those gaps up?

AA men do not devalue AA women. You all devalue yourselves with the same ARROGANCE you all don’t want from men, which is why you have so many successful, attractive AA women who are single, lonely, and emotionally destitute!

I’m Done. You don’t have to Wonder Why any longer!

I have a subscription to Essence and im not a bitter black women at all but I still dont understand why Reggie Bush it’s like putting Oprah on the cover of the Sport’s Illustrated swimsuit issue its the opposite of what their viewers/readers want to see..

I think it is all about the money. Kim Kardaskian wouldn’t give Reggie Bush the time of day if he was some broke ass on the street. In fact, she would probably cross the street to avoid him. The same can be said about her sister, Khloe. I’ve watched their show and they give nothing but grief to their sister, Kourtney, who is dating some broke ass white guy named, Scott…So its a fact, both, Kim and Khloe are nothing but money whores. Both, Reggie Bush and Lamar Odom are damn fools.

By the way, Grant, the Kardashian family is Armenian (her mom’s side is Dutch-Scottish) which is definately not Middle-Eastern. I have a friend that is Armenian and she is white as snow. So yeah, they definately go to a tanning bed. Anyway, you make it sound like the Kardashian family is from Saudi Arabia or Iran.

Rebecca, I acknowledge the validity of your comment.

  11. January 30, 2010 at 1:42 pm #

It’s great to see so many of you are color blind. It’s disappointing, however, that brotha Reggie is not that progressive. He perpetuates the notion that somehow white is better by solely dating white women. What’s amazing to me is the fact that he can elevate a bottom of the barrel white woman like Kim Kardashian, over a top of the ladder sista, who obviously, in his mind, isn’t good enough for him.

  12. February 7, 2010 at 1:30 pm #

This article (and it’s comments) are an epic FAIL on one account…the astounding amount of miseducation. Kim Kardashian is Armenian through her father and Scottish/Irish through her mother. Armenia is NOT apart of the Middle East, it’s part of European. Therefore, making Amermians Caucasian. That’s right folks…CAUCASIAN.

It’s painfully obvious that African Americans are not only woefully ignorant about their race, but about all other ones. Do yourselves a favor and pick up a book before sprouting off nonsense defenses 🙂

  13. February 7, 2010 at 1:32 pm #

    *apart of Europe

  14. February 7, 2010 at 1:38 pm #

And Extra Extra to “wonder why”…if Black men are such a “hot commodity” and better than Black women, why are we surpassing you educationally and financially? Why are the hot commodities the lowest group of college grads and highest group of incarcerated individuals?

    Go ahead, I’ll wait

    🙂

  15. February 7, 2010 at 9:14 pm #

Exactly, no one is mad that he is dating a non black chick! I really could care less, but the point is that this is a magazine that black women turn to for all things that relate to the African American experience…rather it be money, education, or love….So why put a man on the cover who has absolutely no interest in black chicks(which is fine) But why is he on the cover of a black love and relationship issue????? It just dose not make since…Frankly I would have rather seen Robin Thicke or Robert Deniro on the cover, which makes much since.

Kim K is white. Armenian is not a race it’s a nationality. I don’t have a problem with him being on the cover. The issue I have is with the black men/women who date outside of their race and try to justfy it by saying its because black men/women are so and so. You date outside of your race because that’s what you CHOOSE to do!

You date outside of your race because that’s what you CHOOSE to do! Black women had to put themselves on pedestals because black men have put others in our place. I think love is where you find it, but at the same time, I don’t pass over black men and head to Mr. White. My Dad was a strung black man, he wasn’t perfect but heloved and provided for his family. I look at him as proof that there are good black men out there. If I am hurt by a blackan I don’t hold it against the next, I just know that one is not for me! Brothas we still got your backs even though y’all step on ours, keep ya head up sistas!

  18. July 28, 2010 at 8:12 am #

I wasn’t aware that Reggie Bush only dates outside of his race. I just figured because he was black and a professional football player that he would be with a white woman or spanish woman. lol I mean, let’s get real. Shaq and his wife are barely holding on. I am a black woman and I could care less because at the end of the day, everyone wants a TAN, hips, booty, big lips and curves like me. So, whether it’s a black man, white man, asian man, any man-they want all of the above. So, in reality black women you need to realize who you are and what you have and your true love will come in whatever shade or color.
