As of today, Mike Comrie is officially a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Mike and the Pens agreed to a one year, $500,000 deal just in time for the start of the 2010 season.
We hope Hilary signs on to a tv show or a movie, so she doesn’t have to spend too much time in that awful city! Especially in the winter! Been there, done that!
pittsburgh is really not an AWFUL city. different, yes. but friendly, livable, unique, and historic. low crime, affordable, beautiful. what’s so awful about that? i mean, i guess if you’re the average 20-something drunk that really has no goals in life except for being at the same club as everyone else so you can be seen (actually, pittsburgh does have that: see station square), or the aspiring model, fashion designer, or actor this probably isn’t the place for you. but for a good lifestyle, beautiful scenery, and the best of calm & serene, and fast & city-life, pittsburgh’s a pretty good place to be. it’s a great place to raise a family, too. and anyway, if you’re from pittsburgh, the snow isn’t a problem.
Who’s this Charley chick and has she ever been to the ‘burgh or is she stereotyping? Hmmm, maybe if she did her research and assembled her facts (like visiting the city and gathering information) before she started regurgitating non-facts and hear-say maybe we could then consider her babble, journalistic sound with journalistic integrity! Oh, I forget that she is writing for a reputable organization…don’t think we could survive without, “Starzlife.”

I agree with everything the first commenter said. In addition, the best team and the best organization for a hockey player to work for is the PITTSBURGH PENGUINS! Comrie is very fortunate to be picked up by them.
Yeah, take it easy. Be considerate of the 1+ million people that live there. I grew up there and it is a wonderful city to live. It is safe, fun, interesting, and full of wonderful, nice people who are dedicated to their families, their work, and their sports teams. Let us not forget that the Penguins are one of the best hockey teams in the nation and he is very lucky to have been signed there. Also, if you knew anything about Pittsburgh, you’d know that it only snows hard every few years. Do your research! And be nice.

ummm she has said numerous times they will live in LA which is common sense instead of moving to a new place each yr. she’ll do what most do, visit as much as she can when she’s not busy.
I guess maybe he forgot that Mike WANTED to go to Pittsburgh…he’s the one that practically begged the Penguins for a job. At least he’ll play for a team who can win a championship. Unlike the team he was on last year who finished what dead last in the entire league. Pittsburgh was voted one of the most beautiful cities in the country so this douche can shove it. I’m so effing irritated that all this Hollywood bullshit has to be brought into hockey. It really makes me want to say Mike should just stay the eff out of hockey and live off of her. He’s not even that great of a hockey player to begin with. I hope she doesn’t show her face there cause a lot of Penguins fans don’t want her to. They don’t want her or her husband there. That city and that team is to good to deserve this crap. The people in Pittsburgh love that city and they love the teams in that city!! If Pittsburgh is such an awful city then why would Jake Gyllenhaal come into it and leave with a tattoo of the Steelers and be professing how much of a great city it is?? The people in Pittsburgh are some of the most friendly hard working people you will ever meet and are way better then that trash you find in LA.

As a lifelong citizen of Pittsburgh, it gives me great pleasure to tell this blogger Charlie this in the paraphrased words of Treach from Naughty By Nature. If you’ve never been to Pittsburgh, don’t ever come to Pittsburgh, because you wouldn’t understand Pittsburgh! SO STAY THE (BLEEP) OUT OF PITTSBURGH SIR! And BTW, if you hate Pittsburgh so much, then maybe you should write a praising blog about Sienna Miller. For back in 2006, in an article for Rolling Stone, she called Pittsburgh “S–tsburgh” And you say that this town is dead in the winter? Then why is it that the Steelers won 6 Super Bowls? The Penguins always draw huge crowds at home? Big name acts play at either the Petersen Events Center, or the CONSOL Energy Center? Our Men’s and Women’s College Basketball teams like Pitt, Duquesne, and Robert Morris get a lot of national attention? (Especially since Pitt’s Men’s Basketball team was ranked #1 in the nation in the middle of the 2008-2009 season) And cold weather hot spots like Seven Springs, Hidden Valley, and our museums, restaurants, and nightlife always receive great reviews worldwide in the WINTER sir? Maybe you should put the sun tan lotion away, and spend a day or two here in our region to help change your clueless mind!
Pittsburgh is an excellent city. Beautiful, friendly, fairly safe, lots of culture and educational institutions, decent job market… the weather leaves a little to be desired but meh, you can’t have everything. There’s a reason most athletes who come to play in the city love it and rave about it. Heck, a lot of them even make it their home after they leave the team and/or their sport.
Pittsburgh is amazing. I don’t know who you think you are and if you’ve ever been here, but if you have we probably told you to shove your horrible attitude up your anus. :] If you haven’t been here, don’t come here, cause we don’t want ya honey!

Pittsburgh is incredible. and i will say that I live in the town that most penguins live in and katherine heigel has stayed in and so has taylor lautner. and each celebrity seems to love it. its a beautiful town outside of pittsburgh that has citizens who won’t attack the celebrities like they get in hollywood.
and the city is also beautiful

Pittsburgh is awesome. So far, every celeb who has been here has loved it, with the exception of Sienna Miller. It has it’s downsides like the one way streets but other than that it’s awesome. Everyone is friendly and you don’t have to fly or drive 2 hours to be away from the hustle and bustle. Speaking of friendly, as a Pens fan, I welcome Hilary and Mike. I think it’s a bit harsh to say noone wants them here. That’s not our Pittsburgh hospitality! They’re people too….just because they’re, mainly she, is well known doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be as welcoming.
Upon reading this blogger’s ignorant comments on The Burgh, I was pretty fired up. I’m a journalist too, and while I no longer live in western Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh will always be my home. And in my eyes, the greatest city in the country.
I was going to respond with a snarky comment, but upon reading everyone else’s, I realized I don’t have to defend my city, because everyone else already has. That’s exactly why Pittsburgh is such a great city… it’s made up of hardworking and loyal people who, no matter where they end up in the world, always consider Pittsburgh to be their home.

hilary duff married a hockey player and while sienna miller (whose father’s family is from WESTERN PA) didnt care much for the city, no hockey player would consider pittsburgh an ‘awful’ franchise to play for. you prefer la? wonderful. stay there. but, as an athlete, comrie is lucky to get a chance to play in pittsburgh with the likes of sidney crosby and evgeni malkin.
