Some of my best friends are….

Charlie Sheen is speaking up for the racist remarks he made to ex-wife Denise Richards over 3 years ago.

Yes I said THREE years ago.  It’s Complicated star Denise Richards recorded some voice mails left to her by Sheen and is likely the person behind their recent release.

The messages, which appeared online breifly before being taken down  were filled with Sheen calling Richards every name in the book, including, a f’n n—-r.

Sheen released a statement saying;

“I deeply apologize by my choice of words to all I have obviously offended; especially to Tony Todd, an African-American who was best man at my first two weddings.”

He then went on to say that

“three and one-half years later, the reasons that caused the anger and frustrations displayed on that voice mail continue to me manifested on a daily basis” because “my children did not show up today for a custodial visit without explanation.”

Denise Richards is fighting an every day battle to get good press, as seen on her reality show, which is correctly titled, It’s Complicated.   But recording voice mails and saving them for 3 years until things hit rock bottom and  releasing them to the public is not a way to get people to feel sympathetic and get good press, at least not on my watch.

Sheen was right with his apology, he really didn’t use the “some of my best friends are black” approach, although he did name an african american, it was a seperate apology to that person, which means more in the end.

Go Charlie, but watch your mouth!
