Eva Longoria used to get herself out of the most unthinkable situations on ‘Desperate Housewives,’ but life doesn’t always imitate art.
Following Tuesday night’s Presidential debate, the DNC co-chair re-tweeted a post from a Twitter user which sent the internet ablaze over it’s content.
The tweet in question read; “I have no idea why any woman/minority can vote for Romney. You have to be stupid to vote for such a racist/misogynistic tw*t,”
It’s Twitter, and it’s a re-tweet, so perhaps it should not be taken so seriously, but many women and minorities did not enjoy the fact that Longoria published an opinion even if not directly her own, that suggested that they were stupid.
Longoria faced the music from Twitter users all day on Wednesday, forcing her to delete the re-tweet, and come up with an excuse. The excuse, laughable.
Eva wrote; “Is anyone else’s twitter bugging out? There are things in my timeline I didn’t retweet today. Hmmm? Standby trying to fix!”
By Thursday, the actress was ready to come clean. She wrote; “I use Twitter as a platform for all Americans and their opinions. Sorry if people were offended by retweet.” “Obviously not my words or my personal view. I respect all Americans #FreedomOfSpeech.”
While it is her freedom of speech to post or re-post whatever she pleases, during an election that has seen FAR WORSE messages from fanatics on both sides, she is a direct representative of the Obama campaign, and even liberal host Alan Colmes appeared on TV on Thursday suggesting that she should resign.
