Oprah’s talk show could be ending it’s run on ABC in the near future.
Oprah Winfrey is launching the OWN TV network next year, and Discovery Communications, her partner in the network is speculating that O will stop shooting her syndicated talk show by September 2011.
Sure that’s two years notice, but if they are planning this far in advance, they must have something else cookin’.
Discovery CEO David Zaslav had this to say; “The expectation is that after that, her show will go off of ABC in syndication and she will come to OWN. We’re talking now about what the presence will be and what kind of programming she would be involved in directly. But this is her Chapter 2, and building the OWN brand online and on air is . . . A core mission for her.”
So no worries for all you Oprah fans out there, because she will likely be present on her own network for you to watch, however the good news is an hour of ABC air time will be cleared up for something thats actually good!
The Oprah Winfrey show has been running since September 1986, and is the longest running, highest rated daytime talk show in American television history. The show has made Winfrey the first black billionaire, with a net worth of about 2.7 billion dollars. In 2007 alone, Winfrey made 260 million dollars.
