Contrary to reports that one of your favorite Gossip Girl stars would be leaving the show for a spin-off series, it’s now been revealed that the show will center around TWO of the current characters.
But not so fast, Gossip Girl fans wont be losing anyone when the CW puts out a spin-off based on the Rufus Humphrey/ Lily Bass love affair as Star Magazine reports. The show will focus on the childhood love affair of the two, with two completely different actors playing the roles.
It’s now being revealed on the show that there is more than just a crush to their past, and the spin-off will be introduced during a flashback sequence during this season. The two yet to be cast young Rufus and Lily will then begin shooting their own show in February.
A GG insider told the mag, “The show will focus on the early romance between Lily and Rufus. It begins when they first meet, during a time when Rufus and his band are at the height of their career. The show will follow the high society and rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle in New York.”
I think I’m okay with this direction. The late 80’s / early 90’s NYC will be cool to watch on modern television.
